Meanwhile, at partners in Ukraine
Our Ukrainian partners – the “Hutsulshchyna” national park – deal with bats, just like we do. However, natural conditions do not require them to create and maintain artificial hibernation places – in the mountains, bats willingly hibernate in caves and deep rock crevices.
In the Romincka Forest – as part of the project – we renovated dugout cellars and bunkers, which turned them into excellent hibernation places. What connects our wintering grounds with the caves of the Hutsul region? Western Barbastelle Barbastella barbastellus, which is abundant in both locations.
