Rohkunborri: cloudberry marshes and elk hunting
Neighboring with Evre Dividal National Park – Rohkunborri – is unusual for several reasons. First of all, the Arctic Trail runs here, connecting Finland, Sweden and Norway, we wrote about in the post dedicated Reisa National Park.
Secondly, Eurasian elk hunting is allowed here – of course, in a certain season.
Thirdly, there are marshes with cloudberries around the large lakes Geavdnjajávri and Eartebelajávri.
And finally, the climate and conditions are so good that every year breeding reindeer from neighboring Sweden are brought here for the summer meadows. Forests, valleys and alpine marshes are surrounded by high mountains (over 1,500 meters). Snow on their tops significantly reduces the number of annoying insects.
